Is an elegant black Spanish marble. Nero Marquina marble (mármol negro Marquina) is a high quality, black bituminous limestone mined from the region of Markina, Basque Country in the North of Spain.
Known for its muddy deep black tones, highlighted by spider thin white veins & jets of white fossils, it's simplistically striking.
This variety of marble gets its black color from naturally-occurring bitumen & is one of the most important marbles from Spain.. simple yet stunning earth made luxury.
Revered throughout history, Nero Marquina was first used in the 13th century to construct Gothic cathedrals and churches. The most notable examples are the Cologne Cathedral in Germany and the Basilica of San Isidoro in León, Spain.
